SINOPSIS HWARANG THE BEGINNING :
Ratu Jiso memerintah Kerajaan Silla setelah Raja Beopheung meninggal dan menjaga putranya, Sam Maek Jong sembunyi di luar ibukota Seorabeol agar selamat dari musuh dan pembunuh bayaran.
Seiring Sam Maek Jong tumbuh dewasa, para bangsawan, warga, pejabat dan Sam Maek Jong sendiri sudah tidak sabar lagi untuk penyerahan kekuasaan.
Namun bangsawan yang kuat yang mencoba untuk merebut kekuasaan di kerajaan tersebut dan terus mengawasi takhtanya sehingga Ji So takut akan dibunuh.
Untuk melawan bangsawan yang telah terbiasa dengan hak istimewa itu, Jiso berencana untuk menciptakan kelompok elite baru, bernama Hwarang.
Kelompok tersebut beranggotakan para ksatria yang gagah dan berbakat ini seperti Moo Myung, Soo Ho, Ban Ryu, Wol Yeo, Han Sung, Ah Ro, dan Sam Maek Jong sendiri. Kelompok elit ini menciptakan keadilan di Seorabeol.
